The Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington announced on March 13 that it will host two bench bar events later this month, scheduled for March 25 in Tacoma and March 26 in Seattle. Both programs will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.

These events are intended to bring together members of the legal community to discuss current topics relevant to bankruptcy law and practice. The court said the content will be identical at both locations, allowing attendees to choose whichever event is most convenient.

Dr. Debra Glassman, Teaching Professor of Finance and Business Economics at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, will deliver a presentation on the state of the economy. Her talk will address issues such as tariffs and interest rates, with an opportunity for questions from attendees following her remarks.

In addition to Dr. Glassman’s presentation, there will be a brief overview of the upcoming 2025 amendments to national bankruptcy rules and forms, including new chapter 13 mortgage forms. This segment will be followed by a conversation with local bankruptcy judges Alston, Dore, and Heston, moderated by attorney Aditi Paranjpye.

The Seattle event is set to take place in the Courthouse at 700 Stewart Street on the 19th floor, while the Tacoma event will be held at Tacoma Union Station in the Jury Assembly Room. The court noted that these events are in-person only and do not require RSVP or registration. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are pending approval.
