Kevin James Johnson, a 38-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed in connection with the death of Antonio Pierre Woody. The incident occurred on October 6, 2024, in Northeast Washington, D.C.
The plea agreement calls for a prison sentence between 18 and 23 years. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced that the Honorable Rainey R. Brandt accepted Johnson’s guilty plea on February 24, 2026. Sentencing is set for June 12, 2026, at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
During the plea hearing, facts presented by prosecutors indicated that Johnson approached a group gathered in the 1700 block of Lincoln Road NE, where Woody was present in his wheelchair. Less than a minute after joining the group, Johnson began assaulting Woody by knocking him out of his wheelchair and stabbing him multiple times as he tried to move away on the ground.
Johnson was arrested on the same day as the incident and has remained in custody since then.
Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in making this announcement. The investigation was conducted by both the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Marybeth Manfreda and Rashmika Nedungadi are prosecuting the case.
