Tyree Irving, a 29-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has pleaded guilty to the shooting death of Davane Williams. The plea was entered on February 2, 2026, in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to one count of second-degree murder while armed. Sentencing is scheduled for June 12, 2026, before Judge Neal Kravitz.

According to court documents, on January 15, 2019, at approximately 2:59 p.m., Irving approached a group outside Tyler House in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street NW. After yelling at Mr. Williams for less than ten seconds, Irving pulled out a .40 caliber pistol and fired five shots at Williams, hitting him each time. Bystanders fled as Williams fell to the ground. Irving then concealed his weapon and left the scene.

Irving was arrested on February 27, 2019, and has remained in custody since then.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the plea agreement with Interim Chief Jeffery W. Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department also participating in the announcement.

“This case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua Hall and Wes Faulkner.”
