Jalique Wiseman, 20, of Washington D.C., was sentenced in Superior Court to 27 years in prison for a series of robberies along the Metropolitan Branch Trail. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Wiseman pleaded guilty on May 16, 2025, to three counts of armed robbery and three counts of robbery. Judge Jennifer Di Toro sentenced him to five years for each armed robbery and four years for each robbery, with the sentences to be served consecutively. This results in a total sentence of 27 years’ incarceration. After serving his prison term, Wiseman will be subject to three years of supervised release.

According to government evidence, between October 2 and November 23, 2023, Wiseman committed six separate robberies on or near the Metropolitan Branch Trail. He used either physical violence or a firearm during these incidents and took victims’ cell phones and other property. Wiseman also demanded passcodes from the victims and accessed their financial accounts to transfer money into accounts controlled by himself and an accomplice.

Wiseman was arrested on November 29, 2023, and has remained in custody since that time.

Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the sentence. Both officials commended investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department for their work on the case and acknowledged Assistant U.S. Attorney Kraig Ahalt for prosecuting it.

“The Honorable Judge Jennifer Di Toro, of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, sentenced Wiseman to five years for each armed robbery and four years for each robbery to be served consecutively, for a total sentence of 27 years’ incarceration,” according to the press release.

“In announcing the sentence, U.S. Attorney Pirro and Chief Smith commended the work of those who investigated the case from the Metropolitan Police Department. They also acknowledged the work of Assistant U.S. Attorney Kraig Ahalt., who prosecuted the case.”
