The Local Bankruptcy Rules Committee (LBR Committee) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington will be active in 2026 and is currently seeking volunteers to join its ranks. The committee, chaired by Judge Dore, is made up mainly of attorneys who practice bankruptcy law within the district.

The LBR Committee reviews and proposes improvements to the court’s local rules every few years. Those interested in joining the committee are encouraged to send an email expressing their interest to LBRComments@wawb.uscourts.gov by March 27, 2026. Applicants should include details about their primary area of bankruptcy work—such as whether they represent debtors, creditors, trustees, or focus on commercial or consumer cases—as well as their main geographic area of practice within the Western District.

In addition to seeking new members, the committee is inviting suggestions for changes or improvements to the local rules from anyone involved with bankruptcy proceedings in the district. Suggestions can be submitted via email to LBRComments@wawb.uscourts.gov by March 27, 2026.

“The LBR Committee will be active in 2026 and is seeking volunteers. If you would like to be considered for membership on the 2026 LBR Committee, please so indicate in an email to LBRComments@wawb.uscourts.gov by March 27, 2026. In selecting members, the Court strives to achieve practice area and geographic diversity. Accordingly, please include in your email the primary focus of your bankruptcy work (e.g. debtor, creditor, trustee, commercial, consumer) and the primary geographic location within the Western District where you practice.”

“The LBR Committee also seeks suggestions for improvement to this Court’s local rules. Regardless of whether you are interested in membership on the 2026 LBR Committee, you may submit rule suggestions by email to LBRComments@wawb.uscourts.gov by March 27, 2026.”
