Ashaad Anthony Turner, 24, was sentenced on Mar. 26 in U.S. District Court to 30 months in federal prison for unlawfully possessing a stolen, loaded firearm and intending to distribute marijuana in Northwest Washington, D.C., according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

The sentencing addresses the risks associated with illegal firearms possession and drug distribution within the community. Turner pleaded guilty on Dec. 18, 2025 before Judge Sparkle L. Sooknanan to two counts: unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and unlawful possession with intent to distribute marijuana. In addition to his prison sentence, he was ordered to serve three years of supervised release.

Court documents state that on Aug. 25, 2024, Metropolitan Police Department officers stopped a BMW at a gas station on Florida Avenue NW. Turner provided officers with a false name during the stop and dropped pills containing heroin as he exited the vehicle. A search uncovered a stolen Sig Sauer P365 pistol loaded with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine, along with additional drugs and packaging materials linked to distribution.

Authorities confirmed that the Sig Sauer pistol had been reported stolen from Saint Mary’s County, Maryland. Turner’s record includes prior convictions for assault with a dangerous weapon after firing at someone in D.C., as well as illegal possession of a firearm in Prince George’s County Circuit Court—making this his third firearms-related conviction within five years.

At the time of his arrest last August, Turner was still on probation following his Maryland conviction for illegal firearm possession.

The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared English along with former Assistant U.S. Attorneys Megan McFadden and John Parron.
