Rocky Lee Brown, 53, of the District of Columbia, has been indicted on one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Brown was arrested on December 29, 2025, by the United States Marshals Service in the 5200 block of Hayes Street, NE. At the time of his arrest, Brown was wanted on an active warrant from Maryland. A Metropolitan Police Department officer responded to the scene and allegedly found a SCCY CPX-1 9mm pistol in Brown’s jacket pocket. The firearm reportedly contained nine rounds of 9mm ammunition in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

Authorities stated that Brown did not have a license to carry a firearm in the District. A criminal history check revealed that he had previously been convicted in D.C. Superior Court for second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison on May 5, 2006. As a result of this conviction, Brown is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Liss.

“An indictment is only a formal accusation by a grand jury that there is enough evidence for a serious criminal case to proceed to trial.”
