The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington announced on Mar. 26 that changes to the process for requesting activation and deactivation of Courtesy Notices of Electronic Filings (NEF) will take effect on April 1, 2026.
The update affects how attorneys and parties request to be added or removed from receiving courtesy NEFs in bankruptcy cases. The court said these requests will now be handled through the docketing of a text-only event in the CM/ECF system, replacing the previous use of Local Bankruptcy Form 10 – Request to be Added or Removed from Courtesy NEF.
According to the announcement, “Local Bankruptcy Form 10 – Request to be Added or Removed from Courtesy NEF, will no longer be used.” The court encouraged users to visit its website for more information about Courtesy Notification of Electronic Filing (NEF).
For additional guidance, attorneys are directed to consult the CM/ECF Attorney Manual for instructions related to courtesy NEFs and other docketing procedures.
These changes are intended to streamline electronic filing notifications and clarify procedures for legal professionals using the court’s electronic systems.
